Queue The Trumpets, Akershus Royal Banquet Reopening Soon!

DIsney Worlds Updated Mask policy

One of the best-themed restaurants at Epcot will soon be reopening! After Disney World shut down, there have been a few restaurants and experiences in the parks that have not reopened yet. Now we have word Akershus Royal Banquet reopening soon per Disney! During our last trip, we were a little bummed that this hadn’t reopened yet. However, it will be soon!

What is Akershus Royal Banquet?

Akershus is a character dining experience in the Norway Pavilion at Epcot. This is located between Mexico and China in the World Showcase. In the past, this was a buffet service with character encounters with the princesses. This included Belle, Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White, and Ariel. However, Disney has not released which princess will be available. Hopefully, they will bring back more princesses than they did with Cinderella’s Royal Table. As this typically had multiple princesses, but only has Cinderella back at the time of writing this. Only time will tell. The theming overall is on point, as it is based on the Akershus castle in Oslo, Norway.

When will Akershus reopen?

Akershus will reopen on November 4th, 2022, which is right around the corner. If you are interested in going, the reservations will become available on October 24th, 2022. This will likely book up quickly, so plan on being on early that morning to snag a reservation. Usually, the reservations will go live around 7 am EST.

What about the food

There will be a couple of different options. Previously Akershus was a full buffet. However, with the reopening, it will be a family-style buffet. This means that the server will bring the food to your table and can get extra of whatever your favorites are. You might be wondering what foods will be on the menu once more. According to Disney, this restaurant will reopen as a family-style dining option with dishes including Traditional Kjttkaker, which features Norwegian meatballs, and the Kylling og Melboller, which is a Norwegian twist on chicken and dumplings.

Moreover, if you are less adventurous with food options, they have you covered as well. You can also find here more traditional American cuisine instead. Try the grilled salmon, mac & cheese, and mashed potatoes with gravy. You can also treat yourself to a Chocolate Roulade with lingonberry cream and Rice Cream with strawberry sauce for dessert. Lots of different options for the entire family.
