MCU 2021 Calendar – Marvel Cinematic Universe Releases

Disney has set quite the lineup of new shows and movies for the MCU. This will span from Disney + shows to movie releases spread throughout the year. Much of what was scheduled to be released in 2020 will take place this year. After Endgame, we have now entered phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This new phase will bring in many new characters to the MCU. Many of which we may not be familiar with. We have quite a packed MCU 2021 calendar!

Marvel TV shows 2021

WandaVision

One of the biggest shows to come out for the MCU has been Wandavision. This debuted on Disney + in January. This takes place after the events of the Endgame and follows Wanda Maximoff and Vision. This has had connections to many of the films throughout the previous phases of the MCU. WandaVision will have a 9 episode season on Disney +.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

There has been a lot of hype around Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The trailer for this has been released and it looks to be epic. This will air on Disney + on March 19th, 2021. Also following Endgame, this will follow both Winter solder (Sebastian Stan) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie) after Captain America passes on his shield. All that we know is that it will test “their abilities and their patience”

Loki

Loki will be a short season series at 6 episodes where Tom Hiddleston will continue his role as Loki. There are already plans for a second season as well. This will premiere on June 11th, 2021. Although many of the details are not known, it is likely that the series will take place after Loki escapes custody during the time heist of Endgame. We could see Loki take on different roles throughout the series.

What If…?

This will be a unique series coming to Disney + which will look at alternative events of the MCU over the years. What if certain things never occurred or came out with different ends. This will be an animated series and look at different heroes through the series. The voices will include the stars that brought the heroes to life on the big screen. What If will go to Disney + Summer 2021. Disney has spread out the shows to provide a new MCU episode through most of the year!

Marvel Movies 2021

Black Widow

Black Widow is the first of the MCU movies for 2021 which will premiere May 7th, 2021. This has been set to go to theaters several times during 2020 but is scheduled for 2021. Many thought this would go directly to Disney + but will still make it to theaters. Black Widow will provide some back story to Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johanson). This is a little different than the other MCU features as this will take place between Captain America: Civil War and Endgame.

Shang-Chi and The Legend of Ten Rings

Not much is known about the basis of the film but should bring in a lot of action to the MCU. This will star Sim Liu as Shang-Chi and Tony Leung as the Mandarin. The Mandarin will be the actual character, unlike in Iron Man 3. The Ten Rings is a criminal organization that has its hold over many areas across the world. Shang-Chi is slated to release on July 9th, 2021.

The Eternals

The Eternals will be an interesting film joining the MCU 2021 Calendar. This will be the story of a group of immortal heroes (The Eternals) who will come together to defeat the Deviants. The Eternals are a lesser-known group of heroes. This will have a big cast including Angelina Jolie as Thena and Kit Harrington as The Black Knight. The Eternals will be released on November 5th.

Spider-Man: No Way Home

This will be another team up with Sony and Disney to bring us the third movie in this franchise and we finally have a name. Tom Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker in the MCU. There is also big news for the villains of No Way Home! Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) will both return from prior spiderman movies.

2021 will have quite an expansion of the MCU and take on many different aspects, leading to a strong bunch of 2022 releases.
