Disney Movies 2019 Line up – A Box Office Juggernaut

It will be an incredible year for Disney at the Movies that seems like will provide theatrical options for everyone! There will be an impressive and wide range of genres for the Disney movies 2019 releases. There will be a lot of big name movies that are will be due out and will take over the box offices including Captain Marvel and The Lion King. This may be one of their biggest years yet. Disney has had impressive years both 2017 and 2018. This year, they could be unbeatable in box office numbers. Part of this is due to the purchases that Disney has made over the past few years including Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars. This has aided in the domination of the theatres. Disney is not only making huge moves in the parks, but they are also making bigger moves in the theatre.

So what is coming out?

Captain Marvel (March 8th)

Flying into the Marvel universe is Captain Marvel. This will follow the origin story of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) who will become one of the most powerful heroes in the universe. The story will explore the war of two alien races as it makes its way to Earth and how she finds herself in the middle of it all. This also looks to explain how Captain Marvel comes to know Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).

Disney

Dumbo (March 29th)

First, of the live-action remakes, this year is Dumbo! The timeless classic of the oversized ear pachyderm is being remade by the brilliant mind of Tim Burton. This story will be slightly different from the cartoon classic but will expand on the tale. Dumbo will tell the tale of a Circus owner who gets help from a former circus start to take care of our favorite elephant, who is made fun of because of his large ears. Follow them along as this rolls into a possible show at Dreamland. Dumbo has an all-star cast including Danny DeVito, Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, and Eva Green.

Disney

Disneynature Penguins (April 19th)

Just in time for Earth Day 2019, Penguins will be a journey that takes you through the life of an Adelie penguin. You will take an adventure with Steve, one of the Adelie penguins who is searching for a life partner to start a family with and find a home. Watch as he experiences difficulties due to the real dangers of everyday life for them including leopard seals. This looks to be a cute movie for the entire family.

Disney

Avengers: Endgame (April 26th)

A lot has changed since the actions of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. This is the next chapter as the heroes and allies come together to try to restore order to what is left of the universe. We will also find out the impact that Captain Marvel will have in restoring order. The trailers have left a lot of unanswered questions including the whereabouts of Tony Stark in the galaxy. There has been a lot of loss but we will see how the heroes respond

Disney

Aladdin (May 24th)

We will see a live-action re-imagining of the 1992 classic movie. This looks to follow the same type feel of the cartoon original with it being a musical fantasy type movie. This will follow the adventure of Aladdin (Mena Masoud) and his chance meeting of Princess Jasmine (Naomi Scott). Aladdin will cross paths with the all-powerful Genie (Will Smith) and his life will change forever. This may be the more controversial of the Disney movies 2019 releases; however, this may be a pleasant surprise

Dark Phoenix (June 7th)

Although not directly Disney related, this is put out by 20th Century Fox which is in the middle of being purchased. This will be the first of the Fox/Disney movie releases. Dark Phoenix will start about a decade after X-Men: Apocalypse. If you have followed the X-Men movies or the comic books, you will know that Jean Gray (Sophia Turner) is an incredibly powerful mutant, however, she has some restraint. On a dangerous rescue mission in space, Jean is hit with a solar flare. From here, her powers are unrestrained and the Phoenix is released. This should be a great conclusion to the most recent X-men series.

Disney/Fox

Toy Story 4 (June 21st)

Buzz (Tim Allen) and Woody (Tom Hanks) come back to theatres after pulling at our heartstrings in Toy Story 3. Toy Story 4 will show a reunion of Woody and Bo Peep after Bonnie and her family set out on a road trip. The reunion may be a difficult one as they have been apart for a number of years. This is likely to be a tough transition and will likely to be a rocky road. Woody will also do what he does best to rally and show the importance to embrace who you are, whether or not you are a toy. This is sure to be one of the biggest films of the Disney movies 2019

Disney

Spider-Man: Far From Home (July 5th)

Spiderman takes an international turn with the release of Far From Home. Following the success of Homecoming, we get to see our favorite web-slinger back in action. While in Europe, Peter Parker’s AKA Spiderman’s (Tom Holland) vacation is cut short due to attacks from elemental creatures. He reluctantly agrees to help Nick Fury figure out their secrets in an effort to keep his friends safe. Furthermore, during this adventure, we will also come to know the likes of Mysterio (queue maniacal laughter)!

Disney

The Lion King (July 19th)

Welcome to the Pride land! My childhood favorite is coming to a “live-action” version of the classic. We will follow Simba (Donald Glover) through his life as he navigates through cubhood with tragedy/betrayal that leads to the exile of Simba. He will be met with the rag-tag duo Timon (Billy Eichner) and Pumbaa (Seth Rogen) who will help him along the way. See as Simba makes his way back to his rightful place. This is an all-star cast including Nala (Beyonce Knowles-Carter), Mufasa (James Earl Jones) and Scar (Chiwetel Ejiofor).

Disney

Artemis Fowl (August 9th)

Based on the ever-popular book by Eoin Colfer, Artemis Fowl will follow the 12-year-old genius through his adventures. Artemis is a successor from a long line of criminal masterminds. After the disappearance of his father, Artemis will find himself in the middle of a struggle against a powerful race of fairies. Artemis Fowl is based off of the first 2 books of the 8 book series. This should appeal to the young readers out there.

Disney

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (October)

Very little is known about this movie at this time, except that it was moved up by close to 7 months. We do know that this sequel to the breakout movie, Maleficent, will take place several years after the ending of the original film. This will explore the dynamic relationship of the soon to be Queen, Aurora (Elle Fanning), and Maleficent (Angelina Jolie). There will be new challenges in the protection of the moors and all those that reside within. This was one of the biggest surprises of the Disney movies 2019 releases!

Disney

Frozen 2 (November 22nd)

At the time of writing this, there is not a lot that is known about the sequel to the blockbuster hit. We have been treated to a new trailer for the movie that leaves more questions than answers. The trailer shows the return of our ice queen Elsa trying to conquer the rushing tide. Moreover, It does appear that fall has come to Rivendale. Anna and Kristoff will be in on the adventure to come with everyone’s favorite reindee, Sven! We will see our star-studded cast work their Frozen magic for another megahit!

Disney

Star Wars 9 (December 18th)

Episode IX will take place several years following where The Last Jedi left off. We are awaiting more details as this is due out at the end of the year. This will be the final addition within the main Star War movies.

Disney has planned on an incredible blockbuster year! They have a couple “live-action” remakes that will be rolled out as well as a couple of new franchises. The sequels that are coming out will be held to a very high standard with Frozen 2 and Toy Story 4. There are a lot of must-see films with the Disney movies 2019 line up. Disney, as of today, has announced that Maleficent will be moved up by around 7 months to further strengthen their movie line up. Big name movies and some smaller ones will make for viewing pleasure for the entire family
