Special Olympics at Disney World – New Host 2022 Games!

It is pretty well known that Idnsey gives back to communities such as with their work with children’s hospitals and create other programs to spread the magic. In the coming years, they are expanding what they are doing as well to give back. It was announced earlier this month that they would be coming together with the Special Olympics. On Thursday 8/8/19, Disney announced that they would be hosting this inspiring sports competition. Special Olympics at Disney World will be a great opportunity for the athletes!

Where will this be hosted?

The Special Olympics will take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex for the 2022 games. What makes this an important date is that this will be the 50th Anniversary for the Special Olympics Florida.

Disney has a long-standing relationship with the Special Olympics but this will expand on it. They have been sponsors for many years. Disney will also be the Presenting Partner with the USA Games Volunteer Program 2022. For this type of event, there will be thousands of volunteers due to the sheer size of the occasion. In the past, Disney has had a lot of employee volunteers.

Another new change

There is another first with the 2022 Special Olympics in regards to the logo design. For the first time, nine athletes had helped with the overall design. Of those nine, four of them were from the state of Florida. This a complete first for the history of the Special Olympics.

Within the next year or so, we should find out more updates on the hosting of this incredible event. Special Olympics at Disney World will be a whole new experience for the athletes. It would not be surprising to see this televised on ESPN + after Disney Plus is released. This should be the biggest USA Special Olympic games ever and will be wonderful to see these athletes give it their all!
