Disney has gone back and forth with the mask requirements over the past year based on CDC guidance. Several things have stayed consistent with the masks, one being that they are required when entering any building or ride that is indoors. This was the case for both guests as well as cast members. Disney had previously announced that they would be requiring employees to be vaccinated by this fall. This is likely part of the change to the Disney world cast member mask policy that has taken place.
What are the newest changes to the Mask policy?
Starting on November 8th, 2021, vaccinated cast members are able to relax the masks. For those that are fully vaccinated, they will be able to take their masks off when working backstage at Walt Disney World. However, cast members will be required to wear their masks when guest-facing while indoor areas.
With this change, it is important to remember that guests will still be required to wear masks while they are indoors whether in ride queues or shops. It is unclear if this will change in the future. There have been many articles that are hopeful that this will change for guests, which could be the case. However, with this change, it is only for fully vaccinated cast members. Disney may take time to ease up restrictions with guests as they are not able to verify if someone is vaccinated or not.
What is the current Disney World mask policy for guests?
Masks or face coverings are currently required for all guests that are over the age of 2. This is for all indoor locations. It also includes all Disney transportation (Skyliner, monorail, Disney buses). Face coverings are optional for guests for all outdoor areas or outdoor queues.
