Celebrating Mickey’s birthday with #ShareYourEars 2018

Someone’s having a special birthday! That’s right, it’s Mickey Mouse and he is turning 90 years old and boy does he look good for his age! It’s hard to believe that it was 90 years ago that Walt Disney dreamt up the phenomenon that would become Mickey Mouse. There’s a lot of backstory behind this which we will dig into at a later time. Now is the time for Celebration of the life of Mickey Mouse, but this wouldn’t be complete without touching the lives of millions of people. This all starts with #ShareYourEars 2018!

What is #ShareYourEars 2018?

For Mickey’s birthday, Disney is encouraging everyone to #ShareYourEars; which is a campaign just support the Make-A-Wish Foundation. From now until November 17th, 2018, Disney is inviting people to show their creative side. You can do this by snapping a picture of yourself with Mickey Mouse ears and uploading it to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. For each # ShareyourEars, they will donate $5 to Make-A-Wish. Disney up to 2 million dollars to the foundation. This will be the third year running for the #ShareYourEars initiative.

There will also be other ways to celebrate this within the parks, Disney Stores or even Disney Cruises. This includes specialized frames, special photo ops on the cruise ships, or even a special “ear walls” themed area for pictures at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Each year Disney grants over 10,000 wishes. And since the start of this program, they have granted over a 130,000 wishes with the Make-A-Wish Grant! All of this is part of the Disney’s Team of Heroes, which is an initiative to transform Children’s Hospital experiences by committing $100 million earlier this year. This is similar to the #DreamBigPrincess that concluded recently.
