Disney is ramping up for Summer 2022 to get guests to Walt Disney World. Disney released the date for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opening date, which will be sure to get more traffic in. This is set for early summer which was likely going to be busier than the past few years. Now they are releasing resort discounts for certain dates throughout the summer. However, this is a little different from the discounts in the past. This is for Disney plus resort discount.
How much can be saved with Disney Plus?
As with the past room discounts, Disney has set up a tier system for the discounts. This will range from 15% up to 25% depending on the resort that you stay at. Deluxe resorts get the bigger discount and the value gets a slightly lesser discount.
As it breaks down, Deluxe resorts that can get the Disney Plus resort discount include:
- Animal Kingdom Lodge.
- BoardWalk Inn.
- Contemporary Resort.
- Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
- Riviera Resort.
- Yacht Club Resort.
For these resorts, there will be a 25% discount once your Disney Plus account is linked to your Walt Disney World account.
Then the Moderate resorts will get a 20% discount on rooms, which includes
- The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.
- Art of Animation Resort — Family Suites.
- Coronado Springs Resort.
- Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter.
- Port Orleans Resort — Riverside.
And finally, the Value resorts will get a 15% discount, which is not bad for a value resort. This will include:
- Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort.
- All-Star Music Resort.
- All-Star Sports Resort.
- Pop Century Resort.
When are the dates for the Discount?
The resort discount is available for the majority of the summer. Disney has released that it will be available from July 8th, 2022 to September 30th, 20222. There could be black-out dates in there but should be able to find a time that works. It is unclear if they will bring back annual passholder discounts as this is traditionally the bigger resort discounts throughout the year.
How do I get the discount?
One of the biggest aspects of this is the need to have a Disney Plus account. But more importantly, it needs to be registered to the same email as the Disney World account. So if 1 person has the Disney account and the other has Disney plus, these will need to be linked. This can be done through a Disney representative over the phone as well.
Setting up a Disney Plus account
If you do not have a Disney Plus account, you can set up a Disney plus account quickly in order to get the discount. You can test out the service with a 7-day free trial but will need a credit card on file. Disney plus also lets you cancel at any time. However, if you are using this for a discount, it is not recommended to cancel until after the trip. It is not clear if Disney will check subscriptions during or after the trip.
