If you have followed this page for any length of time, you may have seen that Disney World has undergone several changes more recently and have a lot in the works. These changes are from changing rides to new fireworks/ light shows. Previously it was announced that a new light show was going to be replacing Illuminations at Epcot which is a big change to nighttime shows. However, it has been reported that a new nighttime spectacular will be coming to Hollywood Studios. Last year, It was announced at D23 that Disney was working on the Wonderful World of Animation nighttime show. Now more information has begun to roll out and will be starting very soon!
Where will this take place?
This will be located over the central area of Hollywood Studios, where the new Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction is located. Or if you don’t know where this is, it is located where the sorcerer’s hat used to be. Between Echo Lake and the old Great Movie Ride. Over the past few years, Disney has installed new projectors by the end of Hollywood Boulevard for various shows. It appears that this will play a bigger role with the Wonderful World of Animation nighttime show.
What this will incorporate?
According to Bob Chapek at last year’s D23, this nighttime show will use state-of-the-art projection technology to create a cinematic show. He is quoted as saying that this will “ take guests on a magical journey through more than 90 years of Disney animation”. It has also been reported that the show will start with Mickey himself. This is likely because as we all know, “This all started with a mouse”! The show will premiere on May 1st 2019. This date is important as this marks Disney’s Hollywood Studios 30th anniversary.
