Villains After Hours Coming to Disney’s Magic Kingdom Later This Year

What’s something that Disney world has been lacking at times, the appearance of villains. However, Disney has announced that they will be expanding on their After hour nights coming this summer with special villains after hours events! This will add a darker twist to the parks for these special events which will also bring about a whole slew of new things to experience! This is reported to be starting on June 6th and continuing through August 8th

What is the After hours event?

The Disney After hours was a new way to experience the park that started within the past year. It is a limited ticketed event that takes place after the park has closed for the day. This provides about 3-4 hours of time in the park with lower than normal crowds. The event times vary but you can usually enter the park about an hour before the event start time. Many of the rides will still be up and running including the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Pirates of the caribbean and my favorite Haunted Mansion. One added bonus is that popcorn, ice cream novelties and bottled beverages are included in the cost of admission.

So what is new with the Villains After Hours event?

What sets these events apart from the other Disney After Hours will be a new Villains inspired stage show which will include the Queen, Jafar, Maleficent and Dr. Facilier. This along with the God of the underworld, Hades and special appearance by Meg from “Hercules”. This should be  impressive display that will likely transform the castle. This will flow into a couple of the rides. As Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean will have villain based alterations for the events!

For the first time at night, Maleficent the Dragon will also be present during the event. There will be villain inspired treats for purchase as well. Including beverages, dishes and snacks! Popcorn, ice cream and bottle beverages are still free with tickets. The events will also have specialize merchandise available for purchase surrounding the Disney Villains theme.

One thing missing from the Villains After Hours event is a villains meet and greet. Maybe in the future we will see changes to this. But I think that they want to keep it different from their Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party event that starts usually around mid August. If you go to the event, don’t forget to use the #VillainsAfterHours on social media

How much does this usually run?

Tickets are set to run about $139 (plus tax) for tickets bought in advance and $144 (plus tax) if bought on the night of the event. If you are a DVC  (Disney vacation club) or Annual Passholder then you can get a $30 discount on the events when the tickets become available on April 29th
