Travel has slowly started to improve since the pandemic, however, this is still quite aways from where it was, especially for theme parks. Universal Studios has been open for a couple now since it had shut down for a few weeks. Since then, The number of guests has been rather limited to local traffic. Universal Studios appears to be adapting to the change in park crowds now. It has been announced that Universal Studios temporarily closes rides that were supposed to take place this month. However, with these, we do not know how long they will be closed for as no opening date has been released.
What Universal Studio Rides will be closing temporarily?
There are 6 rides that temporarily closed as of August 9th, with four of them at Universal Studios and 2 from Islands of Adventure. They are as follows:
Universal Studios
- A Day in the Park with Barney
- Fast and the Furious; Supercharged
- Fear Factor Live!
- Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl
Islands of Adventure
- Poseidon’s Fury
- Storm Force Acceleration
The closing of the rides appears to be due to move team members around the park. Some of the attractions had already been closed. However, this shows the difficulty with reopening some of the attractions with new procedures. These attractions are not as big of attractions as many of the other rides in both parks. By doing this, Universal Studios can better utilize the staff that they have brought back.
Part of this is also likely due to the team members that were let go several weeks ago. These layoffs were from several areas around Universal Studios due to the financial hit from the pandemic. During the reopening, we have seen several changes to the policies/strategies, from changes to rides as well as the Mask policies which are in constant flux.
