We have information on the Splash mountain retheme that will be coming to Magic Kingdom and Disneyland. This will include a new name to go along with the retheme. Moreover, according to a recent announcement from Disney, “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure,” will debut in late 2024. That is to say, this is the Princess and the Frog-themed version of Magic Kingdom’s Splash Mountain. Tianas Bayou Adventure Ride will be a major undertaking. And by the looks of it, take a bit of time to complete.
The Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort Splash Mountain redesign now has an anticipated debut date and an official name. However, Disney refrained from providing a closing date. Meaning there is no time frame set to when Splash Mountain will close to be switched over.
What can we expect?
The iconic plot and characters from the popular movie will serve as the inspiration for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which will take guests on a musical journey. Join Princess Tiana, Naveen, and jazz-loving alligator Louis on a trip across the swamp as they get ready to throw a unique Mardi Gras party where everyone is invited. Unlike a lot of rides, the story picks up where the movie left off.
As they enter the next chapter of Tiana’s narrative, guests will meet up with old friends, create new ones, and travel through the bayou. Moreover, there will be unique music that is influenced by songs from the movie.
What did they have to say about Tianas Bayou adventure?
“It is incredibly wonderful to know that Princess Tiana’s presence at both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom will finally be completely realized,” said Anika Noni Rose, Tony Award-winning actress, and Princess Tiana voice actor.
Charita Carter, who most recently worked on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, is in charge of the project. Tony Baxter, who created Splash Mountain, will act as the redesign’s creative advisor. However, this has been a long process. The project was first revealed by Disney in June 2020. The company stated that “the new idea is inclusive – one that all of our visitors can identify with and be inspired by, and it speaks to the variety of the millions of individuals who visit our parks each year.” Ultimately, this could be one of the best rethemes that Disney has done.
