Masks at Disney World 2022 Update

It has been several years since Disney World had started requiring face masks/facial coverings.  Although they have stayed consistent for the past 2 years, there has been some fluctuation in their enforcement overall.  This has been more for cast members; as they had been more relaxed, and then tightened back up over the past 6 months.  Now we are seeing requirements becoming more relaxed across the board. There has been a new update for masks at Disney World 2022 announced last week.

Are masks still required?

For the most part, masks are not required for vaccinated guests while at Disney. This is not without some caveats. Although there have been loosening restrictions, Masks are required for certain parts of Disney World. This includes anything that is considered mass transportation. Most notably it would be for the Monorail and Disney busses.  You may have noticed that I did not mention the Skyliners as mass transportation. This is because of the most recent change for masks at Disney world 2022.

What about the skylines?

It was recently announced that Disney would start counting the skylines as an attraction.  The likely thought behind this is that if they are counted as attractions, they are no longer considered mass transportation. This would circumvent the need for masks to be worn while on the attraction.  Overall, this doesn’t make sense as many times when you are on the Skyliner you are seated with only your family in the gondola. Although this may not happen every time, it does happen fairly regularly. It is likely that we will continue to see continued loosening of restrictions, including mass transportation in the future. However this can change very quickly, so stay tuned for any further changes!
