For the Marvel enthusiast, The Eternals will soon make its way to theaters on November 4th, 2021. This is after Shang Chi came out earlier this year but the Marvel flow is about to slow down a little. Several of the Marvel movies that are part of Phase 4 will take a little longer to make it to theaters and then to Disney Plus. We will see a delay in several Marvel movies within the next year. It has not been disclosed as to what had caused the delay but will certainly impact future releases. See which Marvel Movies delayed 2022 releases and when they will finally hit theaters
Which movies have been delayed?
This pushback will actually affect the three big titles coming out in 2022. First is Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness which will be delayed from March 25th, 2022 to May 6th, 2022. If you remember the dates, Thor: Love and Thunder was supposed to come out on May 6th. However, this has been bumped back to July 8th, 2022. Then finally Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be shifted back to November 11th, 2022. For those with a close eye to Marvel, will realize that this means only 3 Marvel releases in 2022 when initially there were 4 slated for release.
This is because The Marvels, the Captain Marvel sequel, has been moved to February 17th, 2023. By moving this to 2023, we will also see transitions of release dates of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania as well. With the other delays, this has been pushed to July 28th, 2023. Delaying just one movie release seems to have a domino effect throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It has been reported that Disney has taken a couple of movies off of the schedule for 2023, but the names haven’t been released
Will this impact others?
Not knowing the full reason behind the delay, whether due to strikes or Covid precautions, it is likely that it will have a trickle-down effect on other areas of Disney. Indiana Jones’s fifth movie will be pushed back by almost a year to be released in Summer 2023. The only Marvel franchise that is not currently impacted is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Which is due out in May of 2023. We will see within the next few months if more projects have been delayed further, which seems likely. Hopefully future films will manage to get back on track in the next year.
