As we are about 6 months from Halloween and Disney has started releasing lots of information about new releases and event information. Primarily, there have been lots of updates on The Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party. But one of the biggest reveals was the announcement of an upcoming Haunted Mansion movie. The original was one that people either loved or hated. With this one set for release next year and the information is a little limited in regards to how it will connect to the fan-favorite ride. Moreover, it has the potential to be one of the best movie adaptations of a Disney ride.
What will Haunted Mansion be about?
The current synopsis that we have for the fill is set to take place in New Orleans. “A doctor (Dawson) and her 9-year-old son (Dillon) move into a surprisingly priced home in New Orleans, hoping to start a new life, only to realize that the place is much more than they bargained for. They seek assistance from a priest (Wilson), who enlists the services of a widower scientist-turned-failed-paranormal specialist (Stanfield), a French Quarter psychic (Haddish), and a crotchety historian (DeVito).” This will be a bit of a change from the 2003 Haunted Mansion movie.
The Haunted Mansion is slated to hit cinemas on March 10, 2023.

Is it a true remake?
At this point, it is difficult to say if this is a true remake or not. The original Eddie Murphy that came out has been a cult favorite. Not a scary movie but did at least bring some of the aspects of Haunted Mansion to the big screen. Basically, the story has changed from the original Eddie Murphy Haunted Mansion movie. It is possible that it could intertwine with the previous movie, without being a true sequel or a remake. Only time will tell for the overarching tie-in.
