In case you’ve been living under a rock, there is a new ride at Universal Studios that is taking the area by storm. Adding onto the success of Harry Potter attractions, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure has recently opened within the past couple weeks. This ride replaced the Dragon Challenge roller coaster that had been there for several years. Since the closure of the Dragon challenge, there has been a lot of hype up for this ride and with what appears to be for good reason! Hagrids motorbike adventure is a high-speed roller coaster will weave in and out of the Forbidden Forest and will take guests on a ride they won’t soon forget.
Who is Hagrid
You don’t know who Hagrid is? He is only the Keeper of Keys at Hogwarts under the greatest Headmaster Hogwarts has ever known. He oversees the Forbidden Forest and the creatures that water the foreboding woods. Many of these creatures have a respect for Hagrid which will provide some protection during your journey.
What’s special about this
Hagrids Motorbike Adventure mixes a couple of types of rides including your standard coaster section with a free fall thrown in. You’ll be able to explore and experience a bunch of the mythical creatures that come to life from the pages of the Harry Potter series. The coaster goes in multiple directions, so be prepared to go backward. With the official opening, Hagrids Motorbike Adventure is the longest coaster in Florida at a length of nearly a mile long. You can either take the driver’s seat or kick back in the side car pretending you are living out the scenes in the Deathly Hallows
Magical creatures are out and about in this ride with favorites like Cornish pixies, Centaurs and the ever popular Fluffy, the three-headed dog! When you go, be careful to not get stuck in the Devils Snare during your adventure.
When it Opened?
I don’t know if Universal Studios realized what a hit they had on their hands with Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure! On opening day, the wait times were listed at 10hrs and the lines spanned almost the entire park. They have recently cut back on the times that the coaster runs to starting at noon. Even a couple of weeks out, the wait times are averaging around 3 hours or so. If you get there early in the morning, you will likely beat at least a little bit of the crowds.
There are two restrictions for this ride including that guests will need to be at least 48 inches tall (121 centimeters) to ride Hagrids Motorbike Adventure. The other restriction is that people with waistlines larger than 40inches will need to try the test seat in the queue. Taller guests may have less issues on the Motorbike portion rather than the sidecar.
Feedback so far
The reports from a lot of those that have been lucky enough to ride it is that it is one of the best rides, if not the best, in the area. Most people have reported that it is well worth the wait and would wait for it again. Social media has blown up about this ride, especially on Day one. I can not wait to try Hagrids Motorbike Adventure during our next trip!
