Finding Nemo: The Big Blue and Beyond Premieres!

Animal kingdom lost both of its shows when the park closed in 2020. It wasnt until recently that the Lion King full show returned. Before this, a scaled-down show was debuted in its absence. However, Finding Nemo had been absent since then. However, now we are getting back a version of the initial show. The new Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond premieres to guests starting today June 13th, 2022!

Starting last week, ‘Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!’ cast member previews had begun. With this, there has also been a release of additional images from the reimagined show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Beginning on  June 13, 2022, a newly reinvented version of this iconic stage play will welcome guests into the oceanic environment that will enchant audiences from Disney and Pixar smash-hit animated feature “Finding Nemo.”

What’s new with Finding Nemo

The prior show was around 40 minutes in length. This has been reduced slightly in the revision. The totally updated show will be about a 25-minute play. Moreover, it will use music, dancers, puppets, and animated backgrounds to immerse viewers in the narrative of Marlin and Nemo, an overprotective clownfish father and his curious kid. “This production has many of the songs from the original musical, as well as incredible puppetry and real actors who fill the stage,” said Disney Live Entertainment show director James Silson.

The play includes new set pieces and a unique LED video screen that dramatically expands the physical sets on stage – including a 32-foot-long sunken submarine. On top of this, there will also be a new script. “For ‘Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!,’ we’ve taken a fresh approach to the set,” stated Disney Live Entertainment art director Matt Fiuza. “As we built the show’s scenery, we were influenced by 3D cut paper art and sculptures.” “Looking at our tank set through the brand-new lens of this watercolor sculpture approach was a lot of fun for our team.”

Finding Nemo past show

This aquatic journey is a revamped version of Disney and Pixar’s “Finding Nemo: The Musical,” which debuted in 2007 and played for more than 13 years at the theme park. As stated above, this ran up until the park shut down in March 2020. Marlin and Nemo, as in the original production, go on separate journeys that ultimately teach them how to love and appreciate one another better. The storytellers in this algae-friendly retelling of that classic tale are a bunch of fish from the Marine Life Institute. The 1,500-seat Theater in the Wild transports guests to an oceanic realm.
