This week’s tip is entertaining your kids on a budget. This kind of goes hand-in-hand with our previous post on a no-spend weekend. However, this one’s a little bit different as this can be used on a daily basis. You can create a list of activities and use them in a rotation. Children don’t need expensive things to keep them entertained, especially young ones. This may seem a little ironic coming from a Disney blog, but this will help you save money for your next vacation or just to keep extra money in your pocket. It can be as simple as spending extra time reading with your kids.
Just a few ideas
The ideas for this, like the previous article, are endless. If they’re really young then just doing sensory play with things around the house can be great, such as cornstarch and water or even uncooked black beans. If they’re a little bit older and are creative, then simply spending time doing art with things around the house would be great. This time of year, entering into the Christmas season, giving your child the end of the wrapping paper roll for arts and crafts would be enough to keep them entertained. Some of the theaters will even do special showings of movies with a donation. In these cases, it’s usually a donation for the adult and the kids get in free. In the spring, a lot of small beaches will let you in for free. Or just as simple as going on a picnic in the backyard.
You don’t have to spend a lot of money on a routine basis to keep the children entertained. A lot of it comes down to just spending time with them. Creating activities around the house that are fun and engaging. Besides this helps create those core memories. Doesn’t take a lot of money to have fun with children but it does reinforce the idea of family and that’s the most important thing. As previously posted, simply a movie night with popcorn in the comfort of your own house. Save the money for a later on in life three things that children may be more likely to remember or even to save for bigger events rather than a bunch of small ones.
Hopefully, this helps inspire some ideas of activities to do with kids while saving money. Do you have any other fun free activities to do with kids? Leave a comment below
