D23 Expo 2022 MCU Announcements!

When the schedule was released for this year’s D23, there were some that seemed to be more hyped up. Of these, one of the most anticipated panels was the  D23 Expo 2022 MCU panel. And fans weren’t disappointed. Following San Diego Comic-Con in July, Disney revealed additional details about its developing Marvel Cinematic Universe at the D23 Expo. Kevin Feige is the head of Marvel studios and provided a lot of information during the event.

What was said?

Kevin Feige reported during D23 that they are working towards the future of the MCU. Moreover, they are in the planning phase for the next 10 years of the Marvel cinematic universe. Secondly, this included the announcement that they intend to add the X-men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool to the roster of well-known Marvel characters. What Disney’s Marvel Studios’ viewers can anticipate from the studio in the upcoming years is broken down as follows:

Kicking things off, the panel started with a performance of “I Can Do This All Day” from “Rogers: The Musical.” For those that haven’t seen all of the MCU shows, This was initially shown in the Disney+ series “Hawkeye.”

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”

One of the most anticipated movies of the D23 Expo 2022 MCU panel also had a small snippet. The director of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Ryan Coogler, provided footage from the movie, which will hit theaters on November 11. The video shows Queen Ramonda reprimanding the UN as they try to take vibranium from Wakanda following T’Challa’s death. Letitia Wright, who portrays Shuri, remarked, “I’m eager for you to leave the theater feeling proud of what we provided for you.

‘Ironheart’

In the “Wakanda Forever” trailer, Riri Williams was briefly visible to viewers. However, Marvel also provided a sneak preview of the upcoming “Ironheart” Disney+ series. The concept behind this will bring forth the cross of technology and the mystic arts/magic. Part of the trailer also showed Riri putting the pieces together for the Ironheart armor.

Quantumania from “Ant-Man and the Wasp”

The first movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 5 “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” was discussed by Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly, as well as Jonathan Majors.

Rudd exclaimed, “This stuff is bananas.” He pointed at Majors, who plays Kang, saying, “This is going to be unlike anything you’ve seen from us, not to mention that man.” “Puts this entire situation into such uncharted area.”

Furthermore, The Lang, Van Dyne, and Pym families are seen in footage being drawn into the quantum world and confronted by a terrifying new adversary named Kang the Conqueror.

“Werewolf by Night”

The special Marvel Studios presentation “Werewolf by Night,” which will debut on Disney+ in October, stars Gael Garcia Bernal and Laura Donnelly. The movie was totally shot in black and white. For some, it feels like nostalgia or an ode to prior shows such as “The Twilight Zone” or movies of the 1920’s-1940’s. The film appears to feature a crew of monster hunters who are looking for a monster among them, according to an early video released at D23 Expo.

Secret Invasion

In “Secret Invasion,” a group of Skrulls, shape-shifting aliens, are followed as they invade every sphere of Earthly existence. The Skrulls made their first appearance back in 2018 with “Captain Marvel.”

Some quicker announcements

Don Cheadle showed off some of the action-packed trailer for the new Disney+ series, which could also be politically charged.

 “Fantastic Four” and “Loki”

Not much was said about the Fantastic Four but would be a great addition to the MCU. Loki season 2 was announced with the help of Tom Hiddleston.

Additionally, It was also announced that Matt Shakman, “WandaVision” filmmaker, will direct the MCU’s “Fantastic Four” feature film.

‘Echo’

American Sign Language is extensively used in “Echo,” a new Disney+ series that follows “Hawkeye” and has a deaf female protagonist. The trailer showed the return of Vincent D’Onofrio who will reprise King Pin. Alaqua Cox reprises her role as Echo.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’

Charlie Cox joined D’Onofrio, who had already been on stage to promote “Echo,” to show clips of Matthew Murdock, nicknamed Daredevil, in “She-Hulk.” The show has not yet started filming, hence no video from it was displayed. The series will include D’Onofrio. This was previously announced but more details were provided.

New World Order, a Captain America film

In “Captain America: New World Order,” Anthony Mackie plays Captain America once more. Danny Ramiez, who plays Joaquin Torres, Carl Lumbly, who portrays Isaiah Bradley, and Tim Blacke Nelson, who plays Samuel Sterns, a.k.a. the Leader, joined him on stage.

‘Thunderbolts’

The crew that will be a member of “Thunderbolts” was revealed by Feige. This group features Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell as John Walker aka U.S. Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Olga Kurylenko as Task Master, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.

When the revered Winter Soldier is the most favored among them, it tells you all you need to know about the Thunderbolts, Feige joked.

‘The Marvels’

Captain Marvel, Miss Marvel, and Captain Monica Rambeau discover that their powers are entangled, and the three heroes must untangle themselves. Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris were present in previewing clips from the upcoming movie. However, The three continue to mistakenly switch places, which causes a lot of laughter in the interim. With what was shown, it should be action-packed but also have some lighter, humorous moments. Furthermore, Goose, everyone’s favorite Flerkin, will return for more mischief.
