Celebrating Disney World Christmas 2020

One of the best times to go to Disney World has always been around Halloween. Between the decorations, parties, and food, it has something that will entertain anyone and leave them in awe. But with everything that has gone on this year with the pandemic, things will look a little different. Disney has announced in the past few weeks that they would be adapting different aspects for this year’s Christmas season. So what changes will there be for Disney World Christmas 2020

What Will Change This Festive Season

It had long been rumored but not confirmed that the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party would be canceled, which we now know for sure. This is to keep crowd levels lower and considering it is a special ticketed event. This was not a full surprise after the Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party was canceled earlier this year. The other surprise is the cancellation of the Candlelight Processional at Epcot. This was a big crowd draw last year, which Disney had live-streamed. One of the smaller changes is at the Disney resorts. They will not be doing the gingerbread. And lastly, Disney will hold off on the Castle Dream Lights from last year but will replace this for the 2020 season.

For the 2020 season, Disney will start a new projection effect. At Magic Kingdom, Cinderella’s Castle will get a new projection layout for a new photo opportunity. It has been described as a rotation of designs over the castle. This will replace the Christmas show that usually takes over the castle.

If meeting characters is your goal, then make sure to get a reservation at Hollywood & Vine. Minnie Mouse and Santa Goofy will be making an appearance at holiday gathering, this will also include other friends.

What Will Remain for Disney World Christmas 2020

Well, the biggest thing is the Disney Christmas decorations! This is probably the most important part of all of the Christmas season at Disney World! To get into the holiday spirit, nothing is better than the decorations at Disney. This is enough to bring joy even to the biggest scrooge. Safety is going to be the top priority during this season, so many things will change. With that being said, Disney will make sure that there is plenty of magic.

Santa Claus will still make appearances this year, however, it will not be a set schedule. It was announced that this will cause special pop-up appearances throughout the season. This will likely be over several locations to keep distancing possible. It is likely that this will be more of a selfie opportunity but this has not been confirmed.

Over at Epcot, there will be the International Festival of the Holidays which will provide holiday dishes from around the world. This will start al little later than the rest, on November 27th. Holiday kitchens will be set up around the World Showcase. There will also be holiday music around the World Showcase with music groups such as JOYFUL!

Moving to Disney Springs, there will be decorations spreading joy through the area. And likely will bring back magical snowfall with snop (fake snow) in the streets. We will also be seeing the return of the Jock Lindsey’s Holiday Bar. This is the same great atmosphere butt with a new holiday menu and decor.

There are a lot of changes but a lot that will remain the same. Is this something that would deter you from going? Let us know in the comments below!
